Several Pantellos customers have expressed an interest in collaboratively sourcing two frequently purchased categories— automotive and light-duty truck tires and NOx abatement chemicals. In response, Pantellos is launching collaborative auction events for both of these high-spend categories.
Collaborative sourcing is a process in which multiple utilities work together with Pantellos to aggregate their demand and purchase requirements in a single sourcing agreement. The goal is mutual benefit for both buyers and suppliers. Suppliers gain from spreading their overhead costs across many customers and thus frequently offer significant volume discounts and other value-added services.
The Verizon Wireless agreement, negotiated by Pantellos, illustrates how collaboration benefits all parties. Working with a team of nine utilities, Pantellos designed and implemented a sourcing strategy that resulted in a single master agreement with Verizon Wireless. The final agreement met important requirements for both Verizon Wireless and the utilities, including a competitive discount structure that is already providing many utilities with significant savings on their wireless telecommunication costs. Fifteen utilities have adopted the Verizon Wireless agreement to date.
