Getting connected is the process of preparing to execute electronic transactions through the Pantellos Marketplace. Integrating enterprise e-commerce and back-office systems with the Marketplace entails more than simply “logging in” through a Web browser.

The Marketplace supports a variety of transaction types such as purchase orders, acknowledgements, change orders, invoices and advance-shipment notices across several e-commerce standards such as EDI and XML. Furthermore, buyers and suppliers may select the connection option (On-Ramp) that best suits their needs, independent of their trading parties’ connection choices. The Marketplace Transaction Hub provides translation services that make these differences transparent.

With Pantellos’ assistance, you’ll follow these steps to connect:
Choose an On-Ramp approach
Implement
Test
Certify

An On-Ramp is your transactional connection to the Pantellos Marketplace. Pantellos provides some flexibility in enabling e-commerce. Trading party customers can choose to use “Hosted,” which are Web browser-based services, or “Integrated,” which are system-to-system connections for Buyers and Suppliers.

Hosted Options
Pantellos offers hosted eProcurement and Order Management services for both buyers and suppliers. We manage the applications, the infrastructure and provide the service to trading parties through the Marketplace Web Portal. Users only need access to a Web browser to transact through the Marketplace.

Buyers - Hosted eProcurement. For buying companies who do not have an enterprise eProcurement system, or who do not wish to integrate their system with the Pantellos Marketplace, Pantellos Buyer offers a Web-based eProcurement service based on Commerce One’s Enterprise Buyer Desktop software. Pantellos Buyer supports RoundTrip access to supplier catalogs hosted in the Marketplace and supports the following xCBL transactions:
· Purchase Order
· Purchase Order Response
· Purchase Order Change
· Order Status Query
· Advance Shipment Notice

Suppliers – Hosted Order Management. For suppliers who do not have an enterprise Order Management system with Internet integration capability, or whose order processing volume does not warrant integration of their system to the Pantellos Marketplace, Pantellos Tradesite includes a Web-based order management service based on Commerce One’s Supplier Order Management software. Tradesite supports the following transactions:
· Purchase Order
· Purchase Order Response
· Change Order
· Order Status Query
· Invoice
· Advance Shipment Notice

Integrated Options
Pantellos offers several options that enable both buyers and suppliers to integrate their enterprise e-commerce systems to the Marketplace. These options include support for different electronic document formats and support for different communication protocols.

The first step in getting integrated is to select an electronic document standard. Pantellos supports two document standards: xCBL (XML Common Business Language) and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange).

If you have invested in EDI for Procurement or Order Management, you may want to leverage this investment and transact through the Marketplace using EDI documents. If you have an Internet-capable Procurement or Order Management System, or you want to take advantage of a wider range of transactions coupled with the flexibility of XML, then xCBL may be the right choice. Refer to the Pantellos Transaction Standards for details on support for xCBL and EDI.

The second step is to select a communication protocol. Pantellos supports the following communication protocols:

XPC / XCC - (XML Commerce Connector) is a Commerce One protocol that enables the secure transmission of xCBL transactions. Using XCC requires Commerce One XPC Software, or 3rd party software such as a Pantellos-webMethods Partner Server. Visit the Pantellos Partner Connect Web site for more information about the Partner Server. Refer to Commerce One’s Web site for their current list of On-Ramp partners.

HTTPS Post - Pantellos has defined a protocol for exchanging secure xCBL transactions using standard Internet HTTPS messaging. Most Web server and Internet integration platforms can easily support this protocol.

EDI VAN – Through AT&T, our VAN provider, Pantellos supports EDI transactions over EDI Value Added Networks that have inter-connect capability with the AT&T VAN.

EDI-INT AS2 – Pantellos supports EDI transactions over direct EDI-INT AS2 connections with trading partners. EDI-INT AS2 is an IETF standard for the secure transmission of EDI documents over the Internet using HTTPS messages. webMethods and other Integration platforms support ED-INT AS2.

Refer to the Pantellos Transaction Standards for details on these communication protocols.

RoundTrip
RoundTrip technology allows buyers to access catalogs that are hosted by the Marketplace and/or by a supplier, saving the costs associated with maintaining catalogs in their enterprise eProcurements systems. Pantellos supports the Commerce One / SAP OCI protocol for RoundTrip to Marketplace catalogs. Refer to the Pantellos Content Standards for details on OCI.

For Pantellos-hosted services, implementation of your On-Ramp involves Pantellos from a configuration and training perspective. For integrated On-Ramps, implementation is typically the responsibility of the trading party.

For Integrated On-Ramps, Pantellos provides both buyer and suppliers access to our Test Facility – a fully functional replica of our production platform that includes the Transaction Hub and Tradesite. Trading parties may schedule testing time in the Test Facility once their On-Ramp is implemented.

The Test Facility is a “self-service” facility; once Pantellos provides access and configuration, Trading Parties may execute end-to-end transaction testing with minimal assistance form Pantellos.

Certification is the final step toward e-commerce readiness. Pantellos will work with each trading party to certify their On-Ramp by executing a scheduled, controlled series of end-to-end transaction tests. Once these tests are completed and verified, you are ready to transact!
