Pantellos transaction standards consist of two components:
Electronic Document Standards
Communication Protocol Standards
Electronic Document Standards
Trading parties may exchange transaction documents with the Pantellos Marketplace using either the xCBL (XML Common Business Language) or EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) standards. Pantellos does not enforce a specific set of mandatory documents or a specific document sequence; trading partners may take advantage of the transactions that fit their existing business processes.
xCBL
Pantellos supports xCBL versions 2.0, 2.2 and 3.0. xCBL defines a robust set of transactions ranging from planning through purchasing to payment. For each version, the Marketplace supports all documents defined by the standard. This includes both synchronous and asynchronous documents. However, both trading parties must also support the same document(s), although not necessarily the same version, in order to transact successfully.
The majority of the xCBL documents are asynchronous; a response document from the receiving trading party is not immediately required. However, there are several synchronous query transactions that require an immediate response from the receiving trading party within the same communication session.
Detailed information on the xCBL standard can be found at xCBL.org. The following xCBL transactions are currently the most commonly used in the Marketplace:
Typical Procurement transactions:
Order
Order Response
Change Order
Order Status Request/Result (synchronous query)
Invoice
Advance Shipment Notice
Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI) transactions:
Planning Schedule
Order Request
Change Order
Order Response
EDI
Pantellos supports the ANSI X.12 4010 standard. The following transactions are currently supported:
850 Purchase Order
855 Purchase Order Acknowledgement
860 PO Change Request
865 PO Change Acknowledgement
810 Invoice
997 Functional Acknowledgement
Detailed information on the ANSI X.12 4010 EDI standard can be found at www.disa.org.
Other Document Standards
Pantellos is currently considering support for UBL (Universal Business Language). UBL is an emerging XML standard based on xCBL.
Communication Protocol Standards
Pantellos supports a number of communication protocols for the secure transmission of either xCBL or EDI documents. All EDI documents and most xCBL documents are asynchronous, meaning that the sender does not block waiting for a response from the receiving trading party. xCBL, however, does define some synchronous transactions where the sender holds the communication session open until the receiving trading party responds.
XPC / XCC
XML Portal Connector/XML Commerce Connector is a platform from Commerce One that provides integration and connectivity between enterprise systems and Commerce One-compliant Marketplaces. There are several versions of XPC available:
· XPC versions 3.2 and earlier support xCBL 2.0 asynchronous documents with attachments, & and synchronous documents over an HTTPS connection.
· XPC version 4.0 supports xCBL 2.0, 2.2 and 3.0 asynchronous documents with attachments & and synchronous documents over either an HTTPS or a Java Messaging Service (SonicMQ) & communication protocol.
· XPC 4.6 supports xCBL 2.0-3.5 asynchronous documents with attachments and synchronous & documents over either HTTPS or SonicMQ
Pantellos currently supports the following XPC / XCC connections:
· XPC version 3.2 and earlier (all capabilities)
· XPC version 4.0 over HTTPS only
Pantellos is currently considering support for XPC 4.6.
HTTPS Delivery Service Protocol (HTTPS Post)
Pantellos has defined a protocol for exchanging secure xCBL transactions using standard Internet HTTP post operations over an SSL-secured Internet connection. This protocol supports xCBL 2.0, 2.2 and 3.0 for only asynchronous xCBL documents without attachments. Future versions will support EDI documents.
Detailed information on the protocol specification can be found here.
EDI VAN
Pantellos supports EDI transactions over EDI Value Added Networks that have interconnect capability with the AT&T VAN. The full set of Pantellos-supported EDI transactions is available over a VAN connection.
EDI INT AS2
Pantellos supports EDI-INT AS2 (EDI Internet Integration Applicability Statement 2) connections over HTTPS. The full set of Pantellos-supported EDI transactions is available over EDI-INT AS2.
EDI-INT AS2 is an IETF standard for the secure transmission of EDI documents over the Internet using MIME and HTTP transport that is secured by an SSL connection. For more details on EDI-INT AS2, visit the IETF Web site.
Other Protocols
Pantellos is currently considering support for the ebXML Message Service Specification and other SOAP implementations.
